ATG is a collegiate barbershop quartet comprised of music students from the University of Kansas. Against the Grain was founded in April of 2004.

Against the Grain is now on summer break.  Dylan is in Colorado acting his hiny off, David is in Salina doing theatre, teaching tennis, and going on a midwest tour with his band, and Jon and Shaun are in Lawrence, still pondering on music for the upcoming year for the quartet.  Make sure to check back often for updates as ATG gets new gigs and always keep an eye on our yahoo group page.

A new 5th member of ATG arrived on February 19th, 2005.  Elijah Andrews was born to Jonathan and Sira!!!  Congratulations to our baritone and his wonderful wife!!!

After fighting illness, and poorness, and downright inexperience on the barbershop stage, our first collegiate competition is done and over.  We had a blast, even though we didn't sing our best.  We scored a 61.1%, which isn't bad for our first time out.  After talk and thought, we have decided to stay together for another year and get more refined.  So, look for us to be the 2006 CSD Collegiate Quartet Champions!!!

Be sure to look for Against the Grain come September.  From May until September we will be finding new repertoire, including 2 NEW CONTEST PIECES.  When school starts again, Lawrence will be home of the PERFORMING AGAINST THE GRAIN!!!!!!!!  Look for us all over the Kansas City Metro area and especially on the University of Kansas campus!!!!
